Andrey Ivanov (b. 1977, Moscow) is an artist and photographer working in the field of authorial and research-based photography. In his practice, he approaches photography as an independent language — flexible and polyphonic, capable not only of recording but also of generating new forms of knowledge and experience. Each project becomes an experiment in visual intonation, technical execution, and narrative method — a question of what else can be told through photography.
His work explores themes ranging from national identity, cultural codes, and the collective unconscious to mystical experience, spiritual connection, and contemplative practices. Photography, in this context, becomes a meditative or ritualistic act, a tool for engaging with the invisible — a language that can be heard by the soul.
Andrey Ivanov’s works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions at the Brandts Museum (Odense, Denmark), the Metenkov House Museum of Photography (Yekaterinburg), the Smena Center for Contemporary Culture (Kazan), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Moscow), and Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art (St. Petersburg), as well as at festivals such as Photovisa, Silver Camera, the Moscow and Baltic Biennales, and internationally. His works are held in both museum and private collections.
He is the author of three photobooks and a series of photozines.
